One Table, One Street

Distribution of Dinner and Harm Reduction Supplies in Tehran’s Nighttime Gathering Spots for People Who Use Drugs

While most children sleep safely in their homes at midnight, in the streets of Tehran, there are homeless mothers and fathers who have passed down the legacy of displacement to their children. For some time now, they have been waiting for nights when kind-hearted friends arrive with food, clothing, sterile syringes and needles, and free hygiene supplies.
Volunteers and donors from the Simaye Sabz Rahayi Harm Reduction Institute turn compassion into nourishment and generosity into gifts for the homeless of Tehran. They sacrifice their own sleep to enter the nighttime gathering spots of people who use drugs, offering hope for recovery and a message of healing to their fellow human beings.
Men and women who feel powerless against their addiction are voluntarily referred to licensed mid-term residential addiction treatment centers (camps) under the supervision of the Welfare Organization. The institute covers the cost of their treatment and provides ongoing material and emotional support.

Our Mission:

“We believe that living in a healthy environment is a natural right for everyone, and those affected by social harm should be able to access the services they need without discrimination.”
In line with this mission, the institute distributes nightly meals several times a week among homeless individuals and people who use drugs in Tehran’s street gathering spots. These meals serve as a bridge—an opportunity for those who wish to stop using substances to connect with individuals in recovery supported by the institute and seek addiction treatment.
The institute welcomes public support and participation in its programs and is ready to receive donations—both monetary and non-monetary—from kind-hearted citizens.
